October 22, 2025 - The White House denied a TMZ report on October 21, 2025, claiming President Trump was considering a pardon or commutation for rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs. TMZ reported on October 20, 2025, that a high-ranking White House official indicated Combs' 50-month prison sentence could be commuted as early as that week.

A White House official stated, "There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would’ve gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news. The president, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations."

TMZ spokesperson Casey Carver responded, "We stand by our story."

Combs was convicted in July 2025 on two prostitution charges, facing up to 20 years, but sentenced to 50 months after acquittal on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. Prosecutors sought at least 11 years, describing him as unrepentant.

In May 2025, President Trump stated no one had requested a pardon but he would review facts if asked, noting Combs' past support shifted after his political run.
