White House Asks Kimberly Guilfoyle to Resign as U.S. Ambassador to Greece Amid Allegations
The White House asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as ambassador to Greece. Press secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed the request. Guilfoyle said the allegations are false and that she will defend her reputation. The formal resignation was received Tuesday.

U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle announced Tuesday that her time in the role is coming to an end after the White House asked her to resign.
White House press secretary Katie Zacharia confirmed the request during her first briefing: “We have asked Ambassador Guilfoyle to resign. She has been a wonderful asset to the team, and we wish her well.” President Trump told reporters she “was doing a good job” but that “we didn’t like what we were reading.”
Guilfoyle posted on X that serving as ambassador “has been the honor of a lifetime.” She thanked President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the appointment. “While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end,” she wrote.
She directly addressed recent reports: “These allegations are false, and I intend to vigorously defend my name, my reputation, and my integrity.” She added that she would “not allow false accusations to define my decades of public service.”
The Wall Street Journal and other outlets reported that donor Eric Deters said Guilfoyle asked him in July 2025 to wire $100,000 to pay an American Express bill days before her Senate confirmation hearing. Additional reporting has described claims of improper gifts, access arrangements, and other conduct. Guilfoyle’s attorneys have disputed the accounts.
Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host and former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., was confirmed as ambassador last year. The White House received her formal resignation later Tuesday, according to officials.
This remains a developing story. Additional information will be reported as it becomes available.
