Washington, D.C. – The highly anticipated UFC Freedom 250 mixed martial arts event took place as scheduled on Sunday, June 14, 2026, on the White House South Lawn, drawing thousands of attendees and marking a standout celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.

The opening ceremony featured a powerful display of patriotism. Country star Zac Brown performed the U.S. national anthem, marking the first time since UFC 33 that the anthem was sung live during a fight card. The U.S. Marine Corps Band provided music throughout the evening, including a rendition of “Hail to the Chief” as President Trump and UFC CEO Dana White made their ceremonial walkout from the White House to the octagon. A dramatic flyover by a combined formation of U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds thrilled the crowd as the anthem concluded. Between fights, the production played patriotic vignettes celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

The main event featured UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria defending his title against Justin Gaethje in a competitive bout that ended in a decisive victory for Topuria. The stacked card included several high-profile fights and was broadcast live with large screens on the National Mall for public viewing. Attendees included military members, first responders, and VIP guests, many receiving free or discounted tickets courtesy of UFC.

UFC covered the full estimated $60 million cost of the temporary arena setup, which is to be removed this week. The atmosphere was described as electric and patriotic, with American flags, fireworks, and performances honoring service members and the nation’s semiquincentennial.

The successful execution of the event, despite prior legal and political opposition, was hailed by organizers and supporters as a bold celebration of freedom, combat sports, and national pride during Freedom 250 festivities. UFC CEO Dana White expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting it exceeded expectations in both entertainment value and logistical success.

This landmark event on the White House grounds reinforces the administration’s approach to large-scale patriotic celebrations and marks one of the most memorable moments of Trump’s second term.
