WASHINGTON — Two individuals have been federally indicted for the violent mob attack on Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez during an anti-ICE protest outside the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis on April 14, 2026.

Hernandez was on scene covering federal immigration enforcement operations when she was targeted by a group of protesters. Video footage captured the moment she was shoved to the ground, kicked repeatedly, and struck while trying to report. The assault left her bloodied and injured as the crowd continued to swarm her, with some protesters yelling anti-journalist and anti-ICE slogans.

Local authorities in the Democrat-controlled city initially showed little urgency in pursuing charges, a pattern long criticized by conservatives who say left-wing agitators have operated with near-impunity in blue cities and states. That changed when the Trump administration’s Justice Department stepped in.

The federal indictments, unsealed Monday, charge the two suspects with assault on a journalist and related federal offenses. Prosecutors described the attack as a deliberate attempt to intimidate and silence a reporter documenting lawful federal activity.

The case underscores a broader shift: violent leftist protesters who once faced minimal consequences in Democrat-run jurisdictions are now being aggressively pursued and held accountable by federal authorities. The DOJ investigation remains active, with additional charges possible against other participants in the mob.

For journalists and citizens exercising their First Amendment rights, the indictments send a clear message that political violence will no longer be tolerated under the current administration. You can subscribe to the Sav Says YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@SavSays
