Tucker Carlson’s Nuclear Iran Claim Has Zero Sources, Zero Confirmation, and Zero Chance According to Trump

From “Israel demanded the strikes” to October 7 false-flag theories to “nuclear strike in days,” Tucker Carlson’s wild claims all follow the same playbook. No sources, no confirmation, just wild sensationalism.

On November 1–2, 2026, Tucker Carlson posted on X that the Trump administration “may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran” under pressure from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He named the target as Pickax (Pickaxe) Mountain near Natanz, where he said Israeli intelligence claims Iran has restarted uranium enrichment. Carlson asserted that “no conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite” and that “the only military option is a nuclear strike.” Citing an unnamed “informed observer,” he wrote that “Bibi calls Trump about it every day” and that observers expected a decision by November 7. He tied the alleged pressure to Israel’s late-October election, in which Netanyahu’s bloc won 53 of 120 Knesset seats—short of a majority—and described Netanyahu as “cornered and desperate.”

Carlson supplied no evidence, documents, or named sources. No U.S. or Israeli official has confirmed that nuclear weapons are under consideration. In an October 16, 2026, Newsmax interview, President Trump explicitly ruled them out. Discussing reports of possible use of the non-nuclear GBU-43/B MOAB, he said: “No, it’s not nuclear at all. This is just an extremely large bomb.” He added, “No, I wouldn’t use nuclear. We don’t have to.” Trump separately said the U.S. was looking at Pickaxe Mountain and could “take a shot at that one” and “knock it out fast,” without indicating nuclear authorization.

Pickaxe Mountain (Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La) is a real underground complex roughly 1–2 km south of Natanz. Construction began in autumn 2020 after damage to a centrifuge-assembly facility at Natanz. Iranian officials have said it is for advanced centrifuge production. Analyses by the Institute for Science and International Security estimate the main halls lie at least 100 meters beneath the mountain. ISIS has assessed the site is not yet operational, though entrances have been reinforced. Iran denies nuclear activity there; the IAEA has sought access without full cooperation. Trump has referenced the site as a potential conventional target since mid-2026.

The claim fits a pattern of Carlson’s prior assertions about Netanyahu and the Iran conflict that lacked supporting evidence and drew official rebuttals. In March 2026 he said Israel “demanded” the initial U.S. strikes and that it was “Israel’s war.” Trump later stated the decision was his own and that “if anything, I might have forced Israel’s hand.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio attributed the timing to presidential analysis. In October 2026 Carlson promoted a theory that the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks were an Israeli “false flag,” offering no evidence of advance knowledge or deliberate non-intervention. Other past claims by Carlson involving Israeli officials have been disputed or, in one case involving Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Jeffrey Epstein, later retracted.

As of November 2, 2026, Carlson’s nuclear-strike allegation remains an unverified assertion based on anonymous sourcing. Trump’s October statements remain the most recent on-the-record presidential position ruling out nuclear weapons while leaving conventional options regarding Pickaxe Mountain open.
