President Donald Trump said Friday he concluded a discussion with Russian President Vladimir Putin in which Russia agreed to supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel immediately to the American and global marketplace, another 500,000 tons in November, and 1 million tons thereafter, followed by a further 3 million tons.

Trump posted the details on Truth Social. “Between our total control of the Strait of Hormuz, and this great announcement on Russian Energy, Diesel Prices for Americans and, indeed, the World, will be coming down in record numbers, and fast,” he wrote. “Lower prices for Americans, especially our Great Farmers, Ranchers, and Truckers, is my Greatest Priority.”

The announcement comes as diesel and gasoline prices remain elevated amid the Iran conflict and related shipping disruptions. Trump has previously described the Strait of Hormuz as open and operating under U.S. efforts, with CENTCOM reporting large volumes of non-Iranian oil moving through the waterway.

Just the News reported the Truth Social post and the expected near-term effect on diesel costs. Newsmax and Fox Business also carried the announcement, noting the timing ahead of the Nov. 3 midterms and prior U.S. sanctions pressure on Russian energy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized the arrangement as “not fair.”

The deal does not lift broader Russia sanctions. It is framed by the White House as a targeted supply response to domestic price pressure while the Hormuz blockade on Iranian exports remains in effect.
