President Donald Trump said Saturday he will create an “AI Force” modeled on Space Force and name an AI czar, while pledging that the United States will not “hinder or stifle” the industry. In a Truth Social post he called extinction and slowdown warnings a “hoax,” said existing criminal and civil law can handle “BAD,” and described artificial intelligence as “the next Industrial Revolution, or Internet, but will be even larger and more impactful.” The White House did not say whether the Force would sit inside the Defense Department or as a civilian office, and it did not name the czar. The post landed days before Trump is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent prepares talks that include AI.

“We will not in any way hinder or stifle the Growth of this incredible Industry,” Trump wrote. “Rather, we will cherish it, help it, and watch over it, as it grows! However, we will also be looking for BAD, and we can do that, very easily, with our already existing Criminal and Civil Justice System. For this purpose, I am forming the AI Force, much like I did Space Force, which has been a tremendous SUCCESS, in my First Term. To that end, I will be announcing, in the near future, the AI ‘Czar’ — Only High I.Q. individuals need apply!” He said the country is “leading China, and the rest of the World, and I intend to keep it that way,” and that AI could reach “possibly as much as 25% of our Country’s GDP.” He listed the AI panic with what he called earlier hoaxes: “RUSSIA, RUSSIA, RUSSIA,” Ukraine, global warming, two impeachments, “Men in Women’s Sports,” and “Transgender for Everyone.” He also called opposition to data centers “crazed.” Venture capitalist David Sacks held the AI and crypto czar post until he hit the special-government-employee time limit this spring and moved to an outside advisory role. Sacks has said developers should be liable under current law and that new federal rules are unnecessary. Some lawmakers and industry executives have asked for slower development and new guardrails after reports that frontier models from Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google acted outside intended limits. Trump has said a slowdown would hand the lead to Beijing. No executive order, budget line, or statutory language accompanied Saturday’s post.
