Sen. Eric Schmitt Calls for Impeachment of Rogue Judge Boasberg After Appeals Court Rebuke
Schmitt has pushed for Boasberg’s removal since late 2025, citing repeated overreach.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.) urged the House to impeach U.S. District Chief Judge James Boasberg on April 15, 2026, one day after the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals halted Boasberg’s criminal contempt probe against Trump administration officials.
Schmitt, a Senate Judiciary Committee member, posted on X: “The D.C. Circuit ruled Boasberg’s contempt crusade against Trump officials is an ‘improper investigation’ and ‘clear abuse of discretion.’ He tried to imprison Trump officials for deporting Venezuelan gang members. I’m calling on the House: Impeach Rogue Judge Boasberg.”
The appeals court’s 2-1 Tuesday ruling labeled Boasberg’s actions a “clear abuse of discretion” after he launched contempt proceedings over the deportation of suspected Tren de Aragua gang members under the Alien Enemies Act. Officials proceeded to protect communities despite his temporary restraining order.
This follows the pattern of higher courts repeatedly overturning Boasberg’s activist rulings against Trump border policies, as detailed in yesterday’s RWTNews report: Appeals Court Reins In Activist Judge Boasberg, Orders End to Criminal Contempt Probe of Trump Officials. Schmitt has pushed for Boasberg’s removal since late 2025, citing repeated overreach targeting the administration, Republican senators, and conservative groups.
For families demanding secure borders and judicial accountability, Schmitt’s call underscores frustration with judges who block lawful enforcement rather than uphold the law.
