PORTLAND, Ore. — Independent journalist Katie Daviscourt was violently mobbed and assaulted by Antifa-affiliated protesters while covering demonstrations outside a federal ICE facility in Portland on May 1, 2026.

Daviscourt was live-reporting on the annual May Day anti-ICE protests when masked militants in black bloc surrounded her. A suspect in black bloc threw a rock directly at her face. The frenzied mob continued to harass her as she tried to document the illegal occupation at the facility. The attackers then chased her down the nearby railroad tracks, screaming at her to “RUN.”

Daviscourt later posted on X: “It’s impossible for me to do my job down at the Portland ICE facility, even with security. I was violently mobbed out by Antifa, and a suspect in black bloc threw a rock at my face.”

The incident occurred amid broader unrest during the protests, which this year focused heavily on opposing federal immigration enforcement operations under the Trump administration. Many protesters wore masks and black bloc attire while chanting anti-ICE slogans.

Daviscourt, who has extensively covered Portland’s Antifa activity for The Post Millennial, described being targeted simply for doing her job as a journalist. She criticized local police, claiming officers failed to immediately arrest the identified suspect despite her efforts to point her out.

This latest attack adds to a long pattern of violence and intimidation against conservative and independent journalists in Democrat-controlled cities like Portland, where Antifa-linked agitators have often faced minimal accountability. Under the current Trump administration and DOJ leadership, federal authorities have signaled greater willingness to pursue such cases when local officials do not act decisively.

The investigation remains ongoing, with Portland police and federal agencies reviewing video evidence and witness statements. No arrests have been publicly announced at this time.

The assault on Daviscourt underscores the physical dangers faced by journalists covering contentious political events in areas with high levels of activist violence.
