Poll Shows Majority Back Trump's Iran Strikes to Halt Nuclear Threat
59% supported completing the mission now to permanently neutralize the threat, avoiding future conflicts, given Iran's threats to the U.S. and allies, nuclear pursuits, and calls for Israel's destruction.

A recent national poll from McLaughlin & Associates reveals strong public backing for President Donald Trump's military actions against Iran, with a majority supporting the use of force to dismantle the regime's nuclear capabilities and terrorist networks.
The survey, conducted March 2-9, 2026, among 1,000 likely voters with a margin of error of +/-3.1% at 95% confidence, found 51% approving Trump's deployment of U.S. military to eliminate Iran's nuclear missile program and its support for terrorism, amid the regime's refusal to negotiate. Approval rose to 57% when respondents were informed of Iran's 47-year history as a rogue nation, including killing Americans, taking hostages, and causing U.S. soldier deaths in Jordan in 2024, agreeing that actions were "necessary and warranted to protect American lives."
Further, 59% supported completing the mission now to permanently neutralize the threat, avoiding future conflicts, given Iran's threats to the U.S. and allies, nuclear pursuits, and calls for Israel's destruction. Opposition stood at 33% for necessity and 27% for finishing the job.
Support varied sharply by demographics. Republicans overwhelmingly approved initial actions at 86%, while Democrats were at 25%. Among 2024 Trump voters, 86% backed the strikes; Harris voters, 18%. Media consumption influenced views: 82% of right-of-center cable news viewers approved, versus 72% disapproval among left-of-center viewers and 54% among non-viewers.
On necessity post-context: 87% of GOP congressional supporters agreed, 51% of undecided voters, 46% of independents, 56% of Hispanics, and 47% of women. For finishing the job: 88% Republicans, 48% independents, 46% moderates, 49% undecided voters, 56% Hispanics, and 49% women.
McLaughlin & Associates highlighted the poll as evidence of public demand for decisive action against a nuclear-armed Iran. Certain questions were sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots Citizens Fund to provide context on Iran's actions.
