July 29, 2025 - Attorney General Pam Bondi took decisive action against judicial overreach yesterday by filing a formal misconduct complaint against U.S. District Court Chief Judge James Boasberg, accusing him of making biased public comments against the Trump administration. The complaint, authored by Bondi’s Chief of Staff Chad Mizelle and submitted to Chief Judge Sri Srinivasan of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals, alleges Boasberg violated judicial ethics by undermining public confidence in the judiciary’s impartiality, as reported by The Gateway Pundit. This move signals a bold stand to hold activist judges accountable and protect the rule of law.

The complaint stems from a March 11, 2025, Judicial Conference where Boasberg, an Obama appointee, reportedly expressed concerns to Chief Justice John Roberts and over 20 federal judges that the Trump administration would defy court orders, potentially triggering a “constitutional crisis.” A memo obtained by The Federalist, cited in the complaint, revealed Boasberg discussed pending lawsuits and named a defendant, a clear breach of the Canons of the Code of Conduct for United States Judges, which demand neutrality. Mizelle argued that Boasberg’s remarks, made without evidence, and his subsequent actions—such as issuing a temporary restraining order in March to halt deportations under the Alien Enemies Act—demonstrate prejudice against the administration.

Boasberg’s judicial record has raised alarms for months. In a high-profile case, he ordered planes deporting 137 alleged Tren de Aragua gang members to El Salvador to turn around midair, later finding probable cause to hold Trump officials in contempt for non-compliance, despite the Supreme Court vacating his order on jurisdictional grounds. This pattern, echoed by other D.C. judges like Beryl Howell and Tanya Chutkan, suggests a coordinated effort to obstruct Trump’s agenda on deportations and executive firings, undermining policies aimed at securing our borders.

Bondi’s complaint, filed at her direction, demands Boasberg’s removal from the deportation case and a formal investigation, with potential disciplinary actions including a public reprimand or referral for impeachment. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche reinforced this stance, stating on July 14, 2025, that the memo exposes a “serious breach of the judicial oath,” denying Trump a fair forum. Chief Justice Roberts, at the conference, reportedly countered Boasberg’s claims, noting his own civil interactions with Trump, including a thank-you at the State of the Union for administering the oath.

This isn’t the first time Bondi’s Justice Department has challenged judicial misconduct. In February 2025, a similar complaint was filed against Judge Ana Reyes for hostile conduct in a case involving Trump’s military policies. With public trust in the judiciary waning—Gallup’s 2025 poll shows only 38% confidence in federal courts—Bondi’s action addresses a critical issue: judges must uphold impartiality, not act as political operatives.
