Omar Says She ‘Will Not Be Silenced’ After HSI Agents Search Her DC Home Under Federal Warrant

Ilhan Omar said she “will not be silenced” after HSI agents searched her D.C. home under a federal warrant. Her office called it an abuse of power. The Justice Department confirmed only that it is part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Homeland Security Investigations agents executed a court-authorized search warrant early Monday at the Washington, D.C., residence of Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation, the Justice Department confirmed.

Omar posted on X hours after the search: “I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.”

Her communications director, Jacklyn Rogers, issued a statement calling the action “an outrageous abuse of power and an unprecedented escalation in the weaponization of federal law enforcement to target political enemies.” Rogers said Omar “has done nothing wrong” and added that “no president should be able to use the power of the federal government to intimidate his political enemies.”

Sources familiar with the investigation told Fox News that the probe centers on immigration paperwork completed by Omar’s late father when she was a child. Omar arrived in the United States in 1995 as a refugee from Somalia and became a U.S. citizen in 2000. CBS News reported that investigators are examining potential allegations of false statements and immigration fraud. The Justice Department described the search only as part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation and did not specify the focus of the warrant.

Video and photographs from the scene showed agents in HSI jackets outside the Northeast Washington home, with some later observed carrying boxes from the residence. Border czar Tom Homan confirmed last month that Omar was under criminal investigation but declined to provide details at the time.

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar issued a joint statement describing the search as “deeply disturbing” and raising questions about “the continued corrupt weaponization of the federal government against Donald Trump’s adversaries.” President Trump, asked about the search while departing the White House for a campaign event in Ohio, said he had “nothing to do with” it but added that he had “always found her to be totally crooked personally.”

Omar has previously denied allegations of immigration fraud and said she had not been contacted by investigators before Monday’s search. This remains a developing story. Additional information will be reported as it becomes available.
