New Iranian Assassination Plot Targeting Trump Disclosed Amid Heightened Tensions

The alleged scheme represents another chapter in Iran's sustained campaign of threats against Trump, which intensified after the 2020 U.S. strike that killed Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani.

Israel has shared intelligence with U.S. officials indicating that Iran developed a fresh plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal. The warning comes as tensions between Washington and Tehran have escalated following renewed military strikes and the apparent breakdown of a prior ceasefire arrangement.

The alleged scheme represents another chapter in Iran's sustained campaign of threats against Trump, which intensified after the 2020 U.S. strike that killed Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani. Israeli officials passed the information to their American counterparts amid broader confrontations involving U.S. actions against Iranian interests.

Trump addressed the personal risks during remarks to reporters in Ankara, Turkey. He stated that Iranian leadership seeks his elimination due to his actions against the regime. "I'm on every list," Trump said, while emphasizing that his primary focus remains preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. He acknowledged the dangers posed by confronting the Iranian government but expressed resolve to continue his objectives.

The intelligence disclosure aligns with ongoing U.S. scrutiny of Iranian activities. In 2024, the Justice Department charged an individual linked to Iran in a murder-for-hire scheme aimed at Trump prior to his return to the White House. Additional investigations have examined other Iranian-linked efforts targeting American officials. Iran has denied involvement in prior alleged assassination attempts.

The new plot surfaces during a period of direct U.S.-Iran friction, including U.S. military responses to Iranian actions and Trump's public warnings of further measures if needed. Iranian officials have not confirmed the details of the reported scheme, and neither the White House nor Israeli authorities have issued public statements elaborating on the specific intelligence.

This development underscores the persistent security challenges posed by the Iranian regime, which has long viewed Trump as a primary adversary for his administration's maximum pressure campaign and direct actions against its military leaders. The sharing of the intelligence reflects close coordination between the U.S. and Israel on countering Iranian threats.
