NBC Poll: GOP Leads on Crime and Immigration, Trump More Popular Than Harris and Newsom

NEW YORK – A new NBC News poll shows Republicans holding significant advantages over Democrats on key issues like crime, immigration, and border security, while President Trump maintains higher favorability than potential 2028 Democratic contenders Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom.
The poll, conducted February 27 to March 3, 2026, among 1,000 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.1%, reveals the Democratic Party at a low 30% positive rating (52% negative, net -22), compared to Republicans at 37% positive (51% negative, net -14). Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fares better than Democrats at 38% positive (56% negative, net -18).
On handling issues, Republicans lead by 22 points on crime (47% GOP vs. 25% Democrats), 12 points on immigration (46% vs. 34%), and 27 points on border security (53% vs. 26%).
Trump's favorability stands at 41% positive (53% negative, net -12), outperforming Harris at 34% positive (51% negative, net -17) and Newsom at 27% positive (45% negative, net -18).
