Authorities arrested Johnetta Parsons, a 42-year-old Missouri woman, on March 15, 2026, for allegedly stealing a firearm from her father with the intent to assassinate President Donald Trump.

The Ozark County Sheriff's Office initiated the investigation after Parsons' father reported the theft of his SCCY CPX-2 9mm pistol on December 8, 2025. Text messages from Parsons to her father admitted the theft and explicitly stated her plan to use the gun to kill Trump after traveling to St. Louis via Greyhound bus.

Columbia Police recovered the pistol on January 3, 2026, from a vehicle at the St. Louis Greyhound station, where two individuals confirmed driving Parsons there. The sheriff's office notified the U.S. Secret Service upon discovering the alleged plot.
