Former special counsel Jack Smith was photographed Saturday at a Maryland music festival wearing a Bruce Springsteen tour shirt printed with the slogan “No Kings,” four days after he told a Senate committee his prosecutions of President Trump were driven by evidence, not party.

Attendees posted selfies with Smith at the Power to the People Fest at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia. In the photos he is holding a beer and wearing a black “Land of Hope and Dreams” shirt. Springsteen sells that shirt on his website as a 2026 tour item. The words “No Kings” are printed across the front.

“No Kings” is the name and slogan of a series of nationwide protests against Trump. Indivisible, which has helped organize those rallies, was among the groups with a booth in the festival’s “Freedom Village,” along with the ACLU, Farm Aid, and Oxfam, according to the Associated Press and Fox News. Springsteen performed at No Kings events in Minnesota last year.

The Columbia festival was organized by Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. Organizers described it as a demonstration of the “power everyday human beings have when they come together — through music, art, community and action — to shape our country and our planet on, and beyond, Election Day.” Springsteen headlined. He played “Streets of Minneapolis,” a song written as a protest against immigration enforcement. Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl dedicated “My Hero” to “my new friend Jack.” Morello closed by telling the crowd he hoped they had been “energized, radicalized, revolutionized, democratized and wound the f–k up” according to reporting by Just the News.

Saturday was the first time Smith had been seen in public since his appearance Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. In written testimony he said that if asked today whether to prosecute a former president on the same facts, he would do so “regardless of whether that President was a Republican or a Democrat.” He stood by the Florida classified-documents indictment and the Washington election-interference indictment, both brought while he was special counsel. Both cases ended after Trump returned to office.

Republicans on the committee used the hearing to press him on Arctic Frost, the investigation that obtained phone records of members of Congress, and on a House referral accusing him of false testimony. Sen. Eric Schmitt of Missouri tried to tie Smith to a basketball game as evidence of a scheduling contradiction. Smith said he had been watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. Grohl wore an Iowa Hawkeyes shirt during his set.

On Sunday, Trump posted on Truth Social, “Deranged Jack Smith is a Crooked Prosecutor!” and linked to the Just the News report on the shirt. Smith has not commented on the photographs. The Justice Department has not announced new charges against him.
