WASHINGTON — The FBI is preparing to interview approximately 30 current and former Milwaukee Police Department officers as part of a federal investigation into election procedures and potential irregularities during the 2020 presidential election in Wisconsin.

The interviews focus on officers who were present at or assigned to the Milwaukee Central Count Center on election night and the days that followed. Agents are seeking information about ballot handling, chain-of-custody practices, absentee ballot deliveries, and the level of access granted to poll observers and law enforcement.

This development is part of the broader Trump administration review of 2020 election integrity issues in key battleground states. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche has publicly confirmed that the Justice Department is examining whether proper voting protocols were followed, including whether “the right people voted” and whether ballots were properly verified.

Milwaukee played a decisive role in Wisconsin’s narrow 2020 outcome. President Trump lost the state by roughly 20,000 votes, with a large share of the margin coming from Milwaukee County. Multiple sworn affidavits from poll watchers and election workers have alleged issues at the Central Count Center, including late-night ballot deliveries, restricted observer access, and ballots being processed without adequate verification.

The Milwaukee Police Department has been notified of the FBI’s request and is cooperating. The officers being sought include those who provided security at the facility and responded to complaints on election night.

No charges have been filed at this stage. The interviews are described as part of an active fact-finding effort. The development comes as the DOJ continues similar reviews in other states, including Arizona and Georgia.

This marks one of the most significant federal steps yet into allegations surrounding Milwaukee’s 2020 election operations. The interviews are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
