FBI Director Patel Details Kirk Assassination Probe, But Specifics Fuel Speculation
In an X post released during Kirk's memorial in Arizona, Patel listed areas under review: the shooting location, potential accomplices, a text confession, Discord messages, shot angle and bullet impact, weapon transport, observed hand gestures near Kirk, and visitors to the suspect's home before the event.

FBI Director Kash Patel issued a statement Monday vowing a full investigation into the September 10 assassination of Charlie Kirk, repeating his Senate testimony pledge to pursue all leads, including possible accomplices.
In an X post released during Kirk's memorial in Arizona, Patel listed areas under review: the shooting location, potential accomplices, a text confession, Discord messages, shot angle and bullet impact, weapon transport, observed hand gestures near Kirk, and visitors to the suspect's home before the event.
The 22-year-old suspect, Tyler Robinson, is charged with aggravated murder, and Utah prosecutors seek the death penalty. Patel confirmed analysis of Discord posts where Robinson allegedly wrote, "It was me at UVU yesterday. I'm sorry for all of this." Agents are interviewing over 20 people from the chatroom.
Patel addressed a conspiracy theory about a plane that appeared to turn off its transponder near the site, explaining it resulted from incomplete flight data in rural areas after interviews with the pilot and FAA.
"As FBI Director, I am committed to a thorough investigation," Patel wrote. "The full weight of America's law enforcement is following the evidence. We mourn Charlie Kirk's loss and will continue until every question is answered."
The statement seems aimed to counter conspiracy theories, but mentions of details like hand gestures seem to have fueled them instead, with some feeling his mention of them adds credibility. Questions persist about footage of a fleeing figure, Discord timelines, bullet trajectory, and the plane explanation amid distrust of official accounts.
Under Patel, a key ally of President Trump with experience in congressional oversight, the FBI has committed its resources to the case, honoring Kirk as a victim killed for his advocacy. "We will not rest until justice is served," Patel stated.
