FBI Director Kash Patel and country singer Alexis Wilkins announced Sunday that they are engaged.
Wilkins, 27, posted a black-and-white photo on X of the couple with her hand raised to show the ring. The caption read, “Went and got the law involved.” Patel, 46, reposted the photo from his personal account. The FBI had not commented by Sunday night.
The two have been together since before Patel took over the bureau. The Hill reported they began dating in early 2023. Wilkins was at his swearing-in in February 2025 and was with him at the White House in June for the UFC Freedom 250 event on the South Lawn.
Wilkins is a country singer and political commentator. She released a debut recording, the EP Grit, in 2023. Her site says she “honors country tradition while adding relevance and current commentary.” She has performed at conservative events, including President Trump’s Great American State Fair on the National Mall during the America 250 program, after some other artists pulled out. Public profiles list her as a consultant for The American Border Story since May 2025 and as a National Rifle Association board member since June 2025.

The relationship has drawn scrutiny since Patel became director. The Associated Press reported criticism of his use of government aircraft on trips with no known law-enforcement purpose, including a flight to State College, Pennsylvania, for a Real American Freestyle wrestling event where Wilkins sang the national anthem. Flight-tracking posts from October 2025 showed a Justice Department jet moving from Manassas, Virginia, to State College and then to Nashville, where Wilkins lives. Patel has not publicly confirmed he was on that aircraft. Required-use officials who fly government planes for personal travel are required to reimburse the government the coach fare.
Wilkins has a pending defamation suit against MS NOW’s parent company and reporters Carol Leonnig and Ken Dilanian. The suit, filed in May, challenges a December report that said Patel directed a security detail to take one of her friends home after a night out in Nashville. The case is still open.
Patel was confirmed as FBI director in 2025 after serving as a Trump national-security aide and as chief of staff to the acting defense secretary in the first term. Sunday’s post is the couple’s first public announcement of an engagement. No wedding date has been released.
