DOJ Seizes $560,000 in Hamas Crypto, Takes Over Recruitment Sites — Thousands of Donor IDs

The Justice Department announced this week that court-authorized seizures allowed the FBI to take approximately $560,000 in cryptocurrency destined for Hamas and to seize domains and servers used by the group’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, to raise money and recruit supporters. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro for the District of Columbia said investigators now also have “the names and identities of thousands of individuals who tried to give money to Hamas.” “A message to Hamas: We will stop your fundraising for terror,” Pirro said. “Your networks are not secure, your crypto is vulnerable, and we will not stop until your ability to wage war is defeated.” In a video she called the operation a “massive blow against foreign terrorism.”

The $560,000 figure is the total of three cryptocurrency warrants executed March 25, June 25, and Oct. 10, 2025. Two later orders, dated July 29 and Aug. 18, 2026, covered the websites and servers. Court documents describe an encrypted group chat that claimed ties to Hamas and steered supporters to a fundraising site and a rotating set of donation addresses. Human sources and blockchain tracing followed those wallets. An early tranche recovered about $201,400 from addresses that, the government said, had moved more than $1.5 million since October 2024. One affidavit assessed the broader network received more than $3 million through late 2025, much of it in USDT on the Tron blockchain. The FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office led the work with the Counterterrorism and Cyber divisions, the New York Field Office, and the department’s October 7th Task Force. Hamas has been a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization since 1997.

Seized infrastructure included AlQassam.ps, the Brigades’ main site, plus AlAqsaFlood.org and related host domains used for email and fundraising. Officials said taking the servers let agents intercept further donations and collect contact data on people who tried to give by crypto or conventional means. That information, the department said, will feed ongoing counterterrorism investigations. Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A.
